DOL Finalizes Salary Minimum Rule

A new federal overtime rule that has been finalized by the U.S. Department of Labor will become effective on January 1, 2020. The final rule requires employers to pay at least $35,568 to those employees who meet certain white-collar exemptions to the overtime rules of the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”). If the employee isn't paid the minimum salary, he/she must be paid by the hour and get overtime pay, if earned.
